Collier County made a clean sweep at 4-H State Event.

The 2008 State 4-H/FFA Horse Judging Contest was held April 12 at the covered arena of the UF Horse Teaching Unit in Gainesville. The contest consisted of 8 placing classes – four halter and four performance. Reasons were given on four of the classes.

Awards were presented to the top individuals and teams in halter, performance, and reasons as well as to the highest individuals and teams overall.

Collier County managed to place 1st overall Team in Reasons, 1st overall team in Performance and 2nd overall team in Halter. The individual team members also swept the competition by having the 1st overall individual, Jenell Winn, the 3rd overall individual, Maryssa Ludwig and the 6th overall individual, Missy Currier.

Collier County was deemed the Overall winning team and will be competing at Southern Regionals in Lexington, Virginia and also at the National 4-H Horse Judging Contest in Louisville, KY (November). This is Collier County’s second horse judging team in Collier County history and Collier County remains undefeated at the State level in horse judging. Both teams were coached by Jeanette Kuszlyk, a past University of Florida Horse Judging Team member.
