Wellington, FL – Beezie Madden and Play On glided into victory for a second win of the $20,000 Absorbine® Myoplast® 1.50m Classic held on Saturday, March 22nd, 2008 at the Palm Beach International Equestrian Center. This team previously won the 1.50m Classic on February 2nd and returned Saturday to win easily, stopping the clock at 40.80 seconds with a clear round.
Alan Shore Jr.’s 11-year-old chestnut Dutch Warmblood gelding cleared his fences with room to spare. He seemed to enjoy the DeNemethy Arena as he effortlessly romped around the course. “The ring itself is excellent,” said Madden. “It’s nice to have a change of venue.” Play On seemed to think so too as he trimmed three and a half seconds off the time he had to beat when he finished the shortened course.
Amy Miller of Perth, Ontario, put in a dashing good ride, but the speed of her effort on Piccobello du val de Geer cost her two rails and placed them 5th with a scorching time of 40.24. Michael Walton riding Fantastiek carefully negotiated the course in 44.41 and managed to hold on to a second place finish.
“It was a very fair course and produced seven clear rounds, which is a nice number for this class,” added Madden. “I had a light rub going over 7a, but I got lucky! This is Play On’s last show of this circuit, and he’s won two 1.50 meter classes.” It was a deftly executed performance and a game ending to the season for Madden and Play On.
